About

The Backstory

Wendy Terrien grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, an experience that she discovered is providing her a lot of great material for both short stories and novels.  She started writing stories as early as age eight and won her first writing contest in junior high school.

While attending the University of Utah, Wendy was dissuaded from a focused career on writing by the notion that “you’ll never make any money,” though she did take as many creative writing classes as she could. Wendy earned her bachelor’s degree in organizational communication.

Wendy relocated to Denver, Colorado, after graduation and began her trek up the corporate ladder at a number of companies, both large and small. She returned to school and earned her MBA from the University of Denver and then focused her career on marketing and product management.

Most recently, Wendy worked as a VP in product management but left this position due to company downsizing. It was then that the writing quill lit up above Wendy’s head – she was supposed to be doing something different, something fun, something that made her really happy. She decided to focus on her writing.

Children’s Stories

Wendy has a series of children’s stories that acquaints the reader with a character who introduces children to what’s great about nature and the world around them.

She is also working on stories that feature dogs she has known and the outstanding, amazing qualities they each possess.

Adult Fiction

Wendy has a number of short stories written, several of which are being expanded as novels – there is just that much story to tell. She is also researching ideas for some historical fiction pieces and has an ever-growing list of ideas for future works.

Other Writing

Essays and articles have also been written on a diverse number of topics, from the adoption of shelter pets, to the trend of happily married couples sleeping in separate bedrooms, as well as explorations of the best that vacation destinations have to offer in food, drink and fun.

Additionally, she has done some commissioned pieces where she incorporates the life of a real person into a fictional story. Please contact her if you would like more information about any of the above.
